Like many others in the legislature, Baruth points to the close ties between the Shumlin administration and Green Mountain Power executives — in particular, GMP president and CEO Mary Powell, who chaired the governor’s inaugural ball — as evidence that the governor is protecting friends, not ratepayers.

Suze – please don’t forget that the Governor’s Inaugural Ball was a fundraiser for the National Guard families fund that provides important support services to kids and families that have made huge sacrifices while a family member was deployed in a war zone. Some guard members have been deployed multiple times, and it has taken a toll.

I understand that the monies from the Inaugural Ball was for the National Guard families a good cause for sure, conversely, Green Mountain Power/Gaz Metro could have/should have donated to the National Guard on their own. What is disturbing about Shumlin is his VERY close relationship with Mary Powell. Is blasting four miles of ridgeline justifiable, I think not.
This is not meant in any way to diminish the fund raising, and all that the National Guard has done for us, it is meant to bring to light a corrupt Vermont Governor and his administration.
