LOWELL, Vt. -At least six activists were arrested at the top of Lowell Mountain today.

Green Mountain Power is constructing as series of wind turbines on the ridgeline there.

The protesters say the project is destroying the ridgeline and does not have an environmental benefit. The activists say they formed a human blockade on a section of a crane’s path.

Police arrested six opponents after they refused to leave access roads on top of Lowell Mountain.

GMP called their actions “regrettable” and said the protesters are creating a safety hazard on the construction site and adding to costs. GMP says the project has wide public support.

Jennifer Reading is at the scene and will have much more tonight on the Channel 3 News at 6 p.m.

Based on the comments on the WCAX and Burlington Free Press site, a lot of Vermonters do not understand why you did what you did yesterday.
