Mountaintop Open House hikes to the top of the Lowell Mountains will re-start May 19th and continue to take place on the third Sunday of each month throughout the summer. Guides will be available from 10AM-3PM to show you the way and provide information about the project and the mountains before and after turbines. Hikes leave from the end of the Bailey Hazen Road in Albany (just past the Nelson’s place). The hike is 1 mile each way on steep and muddy terrain. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 744-6122 to RSVP or for more information.
Several people have inquired about the possibility of the Mountain Occupiers’ Open House Hikes being on posted property. We have been conducting hikes to the Lowell Mountain ridgeline since the fall of 2011 and have scrupulously avoided all travel on posted land. We respect a landowner’s right to post his/her property and we avoid those areas.
Please tell your friends and legislators about the Open House!
-Seeing the mountain up close and personal is more powerful than seeing dozens of news articles or pictures
-Things have changed up there – see the difference from your last visit
-Hiking is a great way to spend your Sunday!
Please Consider Helping with the Open House!
-The open house flyer printed out and hung up in area bulletin boards and in Burlington and Montpelier
-Guides to come show the way (if you can find your way up the mountain, or greet people at the base, you can help!)
